Analysis Of Imperialism In The Field Of Language, From The Perspective Of Cultural Transmission

The main emphasis in this thesis has been laid on the analysis of Linguistic Imperialism from the viewpoint of cultural communication. This paper introduces in detail the characteristics of culture and the influences that culture has over language.The author analyses the relation between core English-speaking countries' cultural communication and the dominant position. Language is the carrier of culture,culture is the tunnel of language,and cultural communication brings along language spread. (1)Spread of Christianity of the core English-speaking countries promotes English spread. (2)Science and technology communication of the core English-speaking countries makes English head other languages. (3)When popular culture of U.S.A. and U.K. becomes fashionable in the world,it makes English universal.There is little study on Linguistic Imperialism in China,and in this thesis linguistic imperialism has been studied from only several aspects of cultural communication of the core English-speaking countries,and it is the author's attempt to do profound,thorough,and systematic study on this subject in the near future.
