Torgut Mongolian in Jinghe, Xinjiang belong to the descendants of west road Oirad Torgut of Mongolian in Xingjiang. Although they have experienced the constant conbination and integration in the adaptive process of social and cultural system, Torgut Mongolian in Jinghe, Xinjiang still keep tradition of their culture.Based on Jinghe Mongolian migration, production, life style, religious belief and even their folk-custom activities, combined with local culture, the writer borrowed some ideas and methods from anthropoloty and folklore and ethnomusicology to strive to explore and analyse the interactive relashionship between the morphological characteristics of the ballad—Jinghe"thirteen colorful steeds"and their life and culture background.The full text presents six parts as follows.The first part is about the intruduction, putting forward the research on the purpose, theoretical perspectives, methods and significance.The second part studies and summarizes Jinhe Mongolian ecological environment, productive mode, life style and religious belief.The third part is to discuss the classification and analyses of the ballad—Jinghe"thirteen colorful steed".The fourth part illustrates the lyrics, the patterns and forms of classical poetic composition/rhythm, and rhetoric of the ballad—Jinghe"thirteen colorful steed".The fifth part is about the analyses on the music structure, pattern, mode, gamut, melody and rhythm of the ballad—Jinghe"thirteen colorful steed", based on the material collected from the field investigation.The six is to study on the survival background and its inheritance characteristics of the ballad—Jinghe"thirteen colorful steed".
