A Study Of Adjectives In ZhanGuoCe

ZhanGuoCe is a book recording speeches and lobbying by strategists during the ZhanGuo Period in China. The book covers stories and histories in which the language of some important figures, such as kings, strategists and some civilians is reflected. The language in ZhanGuoCe is beautiful and vivid and it reflects the Chinese in ZhanGuo Period, so it is an invaluable material for us to study the language of that time.The author chose the book ZhanGuoCe as data, the edition published by Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House in 1985. By using the electronic documents, the author makes some adjustments and complete descriptions on the adjectives in the book. The whole dissertation consists six parts.Chapter One is the introduction part which contains the background, research aims and content of the dissertation. Besides, the literature review about languages and adjectives of the book ZhanGuoCe, reasons for the selection of this edition and its values, research method and the logic of the whole dissertation are also included in this part. Chapter Two is the overview of adjective, including its nature, range, criteria. We studies the active use and multi-category of adjectives in ZhanGuoCe, and discusses adjectives in noun-adjective-verb continuum status.We studies the active use and multi-category between verbs and adjectives by using continuum and statistics theory method. We do some in-depth analysis on the relationship between adjectives and noun by using the theory of alleged. Chapter Three mainly studies qualitative adjective, including judging criteria, classifications and grammatical functions. Some of the Dynamic Adjectives are spotted in this book. Chapter Four studies the adjectives of state, including its criteria, classifications and grammatical functions. Chapter Five is a comparative study of adjectives, with a research of comparing the adjectives in ZhanGuoCe with those in other inherited documents, analyzing the features and development trend of the adjectives. Chapter Six is the epilogue.
