Ma Sicong.Ma Sicong (1912.5.7.—1987.5.20.), was born at Haifeng, Guangzhou. He was a talented violinist, composer, musical educator, and also one of the funders of China's violin music's creation and playing. Ever since he went to French with his older brother Ma Siqi at 1924, Ma Sicong had started his life of musical study, playing and creation for as long as 60 years and never stopped. His life was sorrow and sad when the China's music's was in an important stage of improvement. His works had a close relationship with the change of the days, and also, saw the whole history of China's musical improvement in modern times. Ma Sicong's works were always meaning a lot and full of passion. He did a lot of theories study to help China's and west's music getting together, to break the low situation of China's traditional music. So it is proper to say that Ma Sicong is very important to China's music in modern times, and doing a research on such a great person, is surely meaningful on both history and realistic.Since Ma's musical creation is most famous for his instrumental music, which made his achievement on vocal music seemed not as good as it. Meanwhile, since not been paid enough attention to, we now know little about Ma's vocal music creating. This paper aims to do a system study which based on China's modern history and other people's study about Ma. By studying carefully about his life, working, and achievement on music, trying to do a general research about Ma Sicong's works on music and make a objective statement about the value and limit of his works. Hopefully, this will make a supply to the study of Ma's vocal music creating and become a new reference material to the further about his vocal music creating.
