Discussion On The Nationalized Harmony In The Works Of Ma Sicong

Mr.Ma Sicong is one of the representatives of early professional composers in China.In1946-1948,he selected forty folk songs from China and added with piano accompaniment,named them Novelly Singing of Chinese Folk Songs.This is his active attempt on the road of Chinese music creation.It’s also the result of his efforts to explore nationalized harmony.This paper focuses on the following four points,the mode and form of Novelly Singing of Chinese Folk Songs,the chord structure of Novelly Singing of Chinese Folk Songs,the harmonic techniques of Novelly Singing of Chinese Folk Songs,rethink the Novelly Singing of Chinese Folk Songs.Discover his ideas of harmonic techniques included inherits the harmonic tradition,innovations Chinese style,explores regional features.Hope that the paper will summarize Mr.Ma Sicong’s experience in harmony exploration,and these experiences will be beneficial to the creation of Chinese music.
