While quantitative methods have been widely applied by social scientists such as sociologists, psychologists, and economists, their philosophical premises and assumptions are rarely examined. The philosophical ideas introduced by Charles Sanders Peirce (1839-1914) are helpful for researchers in understanding the application of quantitative methods specific to the foundational concepts of deduction, abduction and induction. In the Peircean logical system the nature of knowledge and reality relate to each of these concepts: the logic of abduction and deduction contribute to our conceptual understanding of a phenomenon, while the logic of induction adds quantitative details to our conceptual knowledge. At the stage of abduction, the goal is to explore data, find a pattern, and suggest a plausible hypothesis; deduction is to refine the hypothesis based upon other plausible premises; and induction is empirical substantiation. This article seeks to find out the methods by using the relevance theory to help the listeners understand the meaning of the context.Thesis is divided into five parts, in the first part it introduces the new theory abduction, from its background role in daily life, and his outstanding contribution in science and technology. The second part of Pierce's philosophy were introduced, respectively, against the permit introduce reasoning, inductive and deductive methods. Reasoning is the reasoning against the card the first step in the process, but also a very important part. And then explain the association of familiar, introduces the theory and the inverse correlation between card reasoning. The third part describes the importance of context classification, as well as the theory of context in relevance theory and the inverse permit under the reasoning for discourse between the effects. Highlights the importance of context, its background knowledge for the hearer has a vital understanding of the relationship between words and how to combine against the permit a reasonable inference from the words of the conclusions of the original meaning of words derived methods. The fourth part of the main part of the paper, highlighting, and the listener to understand the discourse on the issues, to solve this problem and the problem still exists. Hearer understand the need for the discourse context of background knowledge for a certain combination of control and our reasoning in this way against the card, and finally the largest association in the framework of the theory of discourse understanding. Last part is the conclusion part of the article summarizes the main issues to note, is about the listener in the framework of relevance theory permits the use of inverse reasoning in a certain context for discourse understanding. Reiterated the problems and there are still issues that require further study. |
