A Study Of Mou's New Addition Of "King"

Has been the basic spirit of traditional Chinese culture since ancient times, "Saint and King" becomes one of many scholars'ideals. Unfortunately, Chinese traditional culture fall into the growing passivity of the situation in modern times. In order to break the deadlock, the Neo-Confucians dedicate into the revolution. They try to make a difference that Confucianism can meet the cultural needs of the modern concept in the new era.This paper view the three books related to Mou's new addition of "King" as the central reference, emphasing on the study in "King". Through the comparison of Chinese and Western cultures, it conclude that Mou's "new king" is something to do with "life", which is also a important concept in Chinese culture. This paper also conclude that the ethical subject cover the natural life, originating in the formation of subject and object of the column opposite situation, thus open a scientific and democratic. Science and democracy are the symbol of modern civilization, So the transformation from tranditional culture to the modern one inevitably incur modern democracy and science. Mou, with the "Collapsed morality" way to stem democracy and science from Chinese own culture, entail "manifestation of Tao,manifestation of school, Orthodoxy of politicism, " Third system as the construction of cultural modernization.Mou's academic achievements of "King" is undoubtable, but whether it can be put into practice still under the great controversy. Especially, the "Collapsed morality" is criticized later. However, the "new king" should have a number of places to be referenced, more researchs as well as comprehensive innovation have to be made in this field, in order to find a more reasonable solution.
