Inscriptions on precipices means the ancients carved characters in the cliff to record events, which have very important historical material value. There are 75 segments of Song Dynasty Inscriptions on precipices in Fuzhou Wushan,35 segments are still existing, but unfortunately others already get lost. There are plenty of historical datum on Fuzhou local culture of Song Dynasty in them, which afford precious tangible evidences and image documents to research historical characters and events. In this paper, I adopt Clos ceri card history. one the one hand, combination Song Dynasty Inscriptions on precipices in Wushan with Inscriptions on precipices in Gushan and other related historical documents to research and discuss the following questions:the origin and population of Fuzhou Xiwaizongzhengsi, the time to Fuzhou and official population of west Xiwaizongzhengsi, the branches and traces of Xiwaizongzhengsi; On the other hand, it researches the reason why literati and officialdom liked to meet and travel, what the season and the members they would choose.The relation between Inscriptions on precipices and Fuzhou culture is two-way interaction and mutual promotion, so the author want to reveal value and charm of Inscriptions on precipices on the basis of deep research, and call for protecting them.
