Gadamer Ago See The Theory Discussed

As the founder of philosophical hermeneutics, Gadamer has proposed a series of new theories in his masterpiece truth and method among them the study of prejudice is the most representative one. He made prejudice get rid of the misunderstanding of the obstacle of understanding , and regards it as the foundation of understanding. This thesis will attempt to analyze and summarize the prejudice theory. In the first part of the thesis, it mainly summarizes the ideological origins of the form of prejudice theory, thus testify the positive function of it. On the basis of it, the prejudice theory will be studied in detailed in these aspects of meaning and function in the following two parts. Using historical significance as its central theme, this theory involves its constituents--tradition and authority. At the same time, different types of prejudice will be distinguished and other concepts related to the prejudice theory such as: fusion of horizons, time distance and effect history, will also be paid much attention to in this part. All the things analyzed in this thesis will lead to a new thinking of the activity of understanding: the nature of understanding is historic significance and the foundation of it is prejudice.
