Firstly, this paper makes distinction between the non-passive Bei1-sentence and non-passive Bei2-sentence; secondly, based on the synchronic description of these two kinds of Bei-sentences, this paper analyses the cause of both blanking of non-passive Bei1-sentence and appearance of non-passive Bei2-sentence. Then we find the causes of blanking of non-passive Bei1-sentence are as follows:(1)Internal cause: complex form and usage of non-passive Bei1-sentence(2)External cause: rise of other passive makersThe causes of appearance of non-passive Bei2-sentence are as follows:(1) High-frequent usage of Bei in modern Chinese(2) The effect of English passive sentences and holistic cognition mechanism(3) Motivation: pragmatic inference(4) Cultural psychologyThen, we also analyze the necessity of appearance of non-passive Bei2-sentence. As follows:(1) Particularity of Bei2 as a passive maker(2) Restriction of both unidirectivity of grammaticalization and characteristics in Chinese typology(3) Typology of linguistic treasury in analysis of grammaticalization of Bei(4) Restriction of Occam's Razor(5) Structure Bei[vv] meets the requirement of Chinese rhythmAt last, we point out that the Bei1 and Bei2 are deviancy processes in the grammaticalization of Bei in essence. Bei2 is an inner composition of words formed by further grammaticalization of Bei. Based on it, this paper also discusses the production, possible ambiguity problem, extension and decomposition of non-passive Bei2-sentence. Prediction of of Bei2 is also made.
