Howard's Diplomacy Ideology And The Revitalization Of The Australian-America Alliance

As a regional power, Australia attaches much importance to alliance in diplomacy. After the cold war, the Alliance did not break up with the disappearance of communism threat.Instead, it got strenghtened under the globalization and the international terrorism threat. Howard,on behalf of the Liberal Party,took power in 1996, marking the end of the the Labour Party,which had been in power for 13 years. Under the flag of "revitalization",Howard took office and thought that the relationship between Australia and USA which had been a pillar in Australian diplomacy was badly damaged because of the "Asia Only" policy taken by Labour Party.The new goverment would focus on further consolidating the Australia-US relationship,which was greatly promoted during Howard's term of office.Australia became "the most loyal Ally"to America. Howard played an important role in in promoting the development of the Alliance.Under Howard's push,the relationship of Australia and USA reached its peak.
