The anisomerous-alliance relationship of Australia to America is one way how the small and middle countries handle the relationship with big countries. As a typical diplomatic relationship, the most significant characteristic of the allied relationship is asymmetry and the sole dependence of the smaller countries on bigger ones. At present, Australian diplomacy has been studied systematically in Chinese historic circle, but most of the study is carried out from a general view, excluding those in a given period of time. This thesis tries to analyse the relationship of Australia to America in the 30 years time from the breaking-out of Pacific War to the Veitnam War. It analyzes the deep reasons of the forming of the Australia-America alliance, expatiates the process elaborately of the forming of the alliance, and appraises the Australia-America Alliance which is still existing now. With a systematic investigation into the process of the appearance and establishment of Australia-America Alliance, the thesis is expected to be helpful to understanding the development of the Australia-America relationship. At the same time, the author hopes the research will contribute to predicting the future development of Australia-America relationship and the situation in the South Pacific area.The first chapter of this thesis chiefly expatiates the deep reason of the forming of the relationship of Australia-America from the point of view of the cultural tradition and the geographical politics. Australia is a country that on the one hand identifies with the Anglo-Saxon tradition and on the other hand keeps away from the western countries, which influences its viewpoint concerning the world. There is a profound historical source between Australia and America. Though the Australia-America relationship before the 20th century is chiefly nongovernmental, the trend makes it clear to all that the two countries will shape certain close relationship. After the Australia Commonwealth came into being, the national consciousness of Australian was awakened gradually. Being afraid of the national security, Australian began to turn to America , the country similar to it in its cultural tradition and becoming stronger and stronger in the Pacific area.The breaking out of the Pacific War gave Australia a chance to form the anisomerous-alliance relationship with America. The second chapter chiefly tells the course of Australia campaigned cooperating with America in the Second World War, and the beginning of the Australia-America Alliance. The breaking out of the Pacific War made Australia really faced with the threaten of the war, while the Britain hadalready had no time to protect Australia, which made Australian got into panic. But this also made the national consciousness of Australia awakened at a draught, and the new Australian government decided immediately to look to America to protect Australian security. Australia did battle together with America in the middle and the end of the second world war, which made the relationship of Australia-America Alliance begin. Although the Labor Party hoped America become the strong protector of Australian future security, it still keeped strong independence, especially when Evatt was Australian foreign minister. Some action of Australia even peeved America, and the course of the anisomerous-alliance relationship of the Australia to America met with circuitry. After the Menzies and his liberal-country party came into power, they adjusted the foreign policy of Australia, so the Australia-America Alliance went to the course of forming agaign.The Vietnam War made the anisomerous-alliance relationship of the Australia to America go from craze to reason. The fourth chapter explains the releationship between the Vietnam War and the evolvement of Australia-America Alliance.
