The mid-Ming dynasty witnessed a rapid development of poetry criticism when many schools of poetry vying for prominence with their different theories. Against the worship of the poetry of the three dynasties-Han, Wei, and Tang, there were some poets who advocated the poetry of the period of Six Dynasties. Starting from the characteristics of the poetry of the mid-Ming dynasty, the thesis traced a history of the influences of the poetry of Six Dynasties at the time, examining the poetry implied in the poetics, poems, and poem anthologies by such poets as Qi Zi, Yang Shen, and School of Jin ling and Six Dynasties. The thesis reached the conclusion that the poems in the period of the Six Dynasties, inadequate in power but abundant in delicacies, bridging the traditions of Li sao and Tang poems, represent a milestone in the poem history.
