As the most famous post-war woman novelist in the world, Doris Lessing(1919-)has occupied a unique place among twentieth century women writers for the sheer number, variety and scope of her work. In 2007, Doris Lessing won Nobel Prize in literature because of her masterpiece The Golden Notebook. In her nearly three dozen books, Lessing has experimented with various genres---ranging from social realism to science fiction. Her intellectual honesty and artistic commitment also had done great contribution to the modern literature.This thesis tries to analyze the ecofeminism awareness in Lessing's two novels: The Golden Notebook and Mara and Dann:An Adventure, and reveals Lessing's novels's universality and apocalyptic vision. Until now, various theories have been used to analyze Lessing's novels, however, about the ecofeminism elements in these two novels, seldom criticism has been paid attention to it.This thesis falls into four chapters, introduction part briefly introduces Doris Lessing and her creative production, her two target novels The Golden Notebook and Mara and Dann:An Adventure and the purpose of writing this paper, the domestic and overseas reviews on Lessing's novels, a general study of ecofeminism. The research questions and the significance of this research are also listed in this part. Chapter one mainly talks about Lessing's origin of ecofeminism consciousness as follows, one reason is Lessing life experience. The other reason is the social background of 20th century. Chapter two illustrates the predicament of both nature and women respectively in her two novels: The Golden Notebook and Mara and Dann:An Adventure. Chapter three tries to explore the origin of this kind of system controls nature and women. That is, patriarchy system controls nature and women. Chapter four mainly focused on the solutions to solve the bitter circumstances. Male and female finally achieve equality, they cooperate to overthrow the patriarchal ideology and enjoy themselves. Nature and mankind also got their own peaceful world; they get along very well at last.The conclusion part summarizes the ecofeminism study of Lessing's two target novels, and also put forward the significance and value of this thesis.
