Figures of speech as an indispensable branch in rhetoric have always drawn attention of scholars both at home and abroad. Figures of speech is a special method, which structure characteristics on the rhetoric we use different means to achieve our expected semantic or pragmatic effects.English and Chinese belong to different language families, because of which great disparity exists in word formation, sentence structure, and word order. However, both English and Chinese, they are both gradually formed in the procedure for the exchange of a set of specific expression patterns in the long term of cultural formation in the development of communication tools.Situation comedy was introduced to our country in the last century 90's, with its humorous dialogue, story of daily life and was soon accepted by the majority of the audience. Sitcom dialogue of which is determined by using various rhetorical devices to set off the plot of the story, to increase a sense of humor, achieves the purpose of the laughing from the audience.This article use metaphor, metonymy and euphemism which appear in these two sitcoms as research objects, pointing out the differences among this three figure of speech between Chinese and English, which based on contrastive rhetoric theory. from culture of perspective to between English and Chinese figures be comparison research, to communicate cross the culture more efficiently, reduce communication failures or errors, and provide corresponding guidance to on Chinese teaching as a foreign language.This article is divided into three chapters, chapter one illustrates the definition of culture, the relationship between culture and language, rhetoric systematically ; introduce the history of sitcoms and its developments in China, two sitcoms A Families with Children and Growing Pains in this article as well, and also elaborated on the history of contrastive rhetoric in foreign countries as well as the development and current situation of Chinese contrastive rhetoric in detail.In the third chapter, I analysis the differences of history between English and Chinese development, life environment and customs, thinking mode, and psychological cognitive of differences, result in the phenomenon of different word selecting or expression mode when using same figure of speech by means of taking examples of metaphor, metonymy, euphemism and hyperbole which appear in these two sitcoms.The main point in Chapter three is the role of sitcom in situational teaching in TCFL(Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language)...
