The traditional college English listening teaching with the cultivating purpose of acquiring simple language skills cannot satisfy the new requirements for talent qualities in the information times. How to cultivate students'English comprehensive application abilities, especially their English language communication ability and autonomous learning ability by using online teaching model has become a significant issue with practical meaning. However, there is seldom related empirical research nowadays, among which the quantitative analysis method is mainly applied. There are some limitations in the quantitative analysis method because there are so many variables in foreign language teaching and the variables affect each other complicatedly. Action research, a methodology to observe and analyze the subjects in details, is able to ensure the validity of the research result to a great extent to describe and analyze the research materials by using qualitative analysis as a chief way and quantitative analysis as an assisted way.Instructed by constructivism, this paper is going to explore the new college English listening teaching model with network technology with the purpose of cultivating students'English comprehensive application abilities, especially their language communication ability, and strengthening their language autonomous learning ability through the action research methodology.Collecting lots of research materials, including teaching log, interview materials, reflection materials, questionnaire, English listening test grades and paper analysis as well as other literature materials related with the experiment, the researcher implements the action research of constructivism based model of online college English listening teaching in one class of the Grade 2010 non-English major students in Binzhou University. Three individual cases are analyzed chiefly together with the analysis about the whole class.The experiments indicated that constructivism based model of college English listening online teaching is a new teaching model by utilizing online resources instructed by constructivism, including random access instruction, scaffolding instruction and anchored instruction. Most of the learners acknowledge and accept the new teaching model. The convenient network breaks the restrictions of time and space and offers more opportunities for the students to touch real corpse and target language so as to improve their English comprehensive abilities especially language communication abilities as well as autonomous learning abilities. Furthermore, the cognitive attitudes towards the new teaching model can affect the experiment result to some degree.
