As a prerequisite of interpersonal communication and a necessary content of English study, English listening is of great importance. However, there are still some problems existing in College English Listening Teaching of our country. The author of the present thesis intends to probe into College English Listening Teaching on the guidance of constructivism in the hope that her research can have influence on, play a positive role in and promote the reform of future College English Listening Teaching to a certain extent.The present thesis is based on constructivism which holds that knowledge is not passively acquired, but constructed actively by learners through their interaction with the external world and on the basis of their own previous experiences. In this sense, authentic language surroundings are of crucial significance to language learning since learning is invariably connected with particular socio-cultural backgrounds, i.e. situations.Based on constructivism this research intends to find out some problems and disadvantages of traditional College English Listening Teaching, explore College English Listening Teaching from a constructivism point of view on the basis of the achievements of previous researchers, put forward a new teaching model and elaborate on the conditions and strategies in the process of implementing this new model in combination of practice.The whole thesis comprises of five parts: In the introduction part the author of the present thesis expounds the reason of making this research, defines some related concepts, reviews some relevant research literatures and proposes some basic research ideas and research methods.In chapter one the author discusses the theoretical basis of College English Listening Teaching in combination of the constructivism-based viewpoints reflected in the field of teaching.In chapter two the author analyzes the renovation in College English Listening Teaching based on constructivism. The author mainly discusses the problems and disadvantages of traditional College English Listening Teaching, multimedia-based English Listening Teaching Models, the combination of constructivism and multimedia-based English Listening Teaching and its corresponding instructional evaluation.In chapter three the author analyzes the application of constructivism-based teaching approach to listening teaching combined with the practical situations of the teaching, researches into the detailed processes and preconditions of the application of the new approach to practical teaching, and further proposes some implications after her practising the new approach in listening teaching.In the conclusion part the author summarizes the basic viewpoints of the present research and proposes some recommendations for further study in this field.
