| Today's world is at a high development stage. While we enjoy the civilization achievements, we are faced with many problems: the unbalance of relation between people and themselves, the disorder of relations between people and society, the conflict of relation between man and nature. It is a new challenge for us to handle these three relations correctly while we construct a new personality-formation. In this background, character aesthetics thought raised by Chuang Tzu and Krishnamurti has a great enlightening significance for us. However, both of them unavoidably have limitations as a result of the different historical backgrounds. Only comparing these two character aesthetics thoughts can we understand the essence of them. Based on the intercommunity of these two thoughts, we could accept and expound them creatively. Chuang Tzu is the comprehensive successor of Pre-Ch'in Taoism and his core idea is"nothing in mind"; Krishnamurti is an India philosopher and his core idea is"self-awareness". With making a deeper comparison between these two character aesthetics thought, we are aware that"nothing in mind"and"self-awareness"is actually the pursuing for the ideal personality of"Anatman". There are complementarities in constructing character aesthetics, which originate from"nothing in mind"that based on"Tao"and"self-awareness"that base on observations for one's own, society and nature. The character aesthetics thought --"Anatman"is the most precious Ideological wealth of their legacy. This paper mainly starts from perspective of character aesthetics and compare these two thoughts in order to discover the enlightening significance of personality constructing in the contemporary era by using theories and methods in subjects such as aesthetics, personality psychology, comparative poetics. This paper can be divided into six parts. Preface gives an introduction on value, current researches, methods and range; chapter one analyzed the connotation of character aesthetics thought of Chuang Tzu and Krishnamurti; chapter two and three discuss consistency and diversity between them; chapter four elaborates the enlightenment for personality constructing in the contemporary era based on comparing these two thought; the final part takes a conclusion of the connotation and value of character aesthetics thought of Chuang Tzu and Krishnamurti. |
