Piano Music consists of three elements:piano skills, the emotion of the music and its content. A good piano playing gives people the enjoyment of beauty and the experience of emotion by the skills, musical feeling and its content. Throughout the three, "breath" is very important in coherence. Breathing physically and controlling the music breath have been playing a vital role in the piano performance. Breath in playing the piano actually refers to a "singing" state. Piano playing also has tone, intonation, breathing, and branch, just like singing. Piano works is made' up of several music movements; music movements are made up of several periods; periods are made up of sentences, which also have the beginning, end, high tide, low tide, and it needs music breath treatment. Playing the piano is a singing of piano promoted by the tune from the deep heart. Therefore, this paper is doing a research on not only the breath physically and the controlling of it in the piano playing, but also how to use it in teaching. We should learn from the accumulation of musical form and structure analysis, music appreciation and other aspects of content, to improve the understanding and the accurate analysis of the style of piano music and enhance the ability to make piano playing spirit more clearly, the structure is more complete, the style more accurate, the performance more moving, and the soul deeper. The paper is divided into the following chapters:The first chapter, the definition and the function of breath in the piano playing, it has a basic explanation mainly from the physiological definition of breath, piano music playing (physical, psychological, performance practice, training, and physical function). This section is mainly to establish the awareness of breath, and make it concrete in piano playing.The second chapter, breath applied in the basic piano training and teaching. It is dealing with the problem from the basic training in piano understanding, including basic skills, techniques and teaching, which is divided into the teaching and use of breath in non-legato, staccato, legato playing, the breath in controlling force in the piano playing, in controlling the timbre, in controlling the speed, in the playing the decorative tone, in the practice of the skills and emotional expression of music.The third chapter analyses the mastery and teaching of breath in the performance of different times, different styles of piano music. This section is mainly from the reality of playing the piano, the analysis of the notation in specific cases, the music tracks in flavor processing, related to representative composer's piano works of the different periods.
