Abstract/Summary:
Saxophone was first invented at the end of the 20 th century.It becomes popular both for its exceptional resonances of brass pipe and woodwind.Althrough Saxophone has a relatively short history,it enjoys a pivotal position in the world of wind music.The techniques of breathing are the fundamental skills in saxophone performence.Therefore,the performers have to learn breath control,and different breathing techniques before they are successful in playing Saxophones.Based on this topic,the paper introduces and analyzes some basic applications of breathing techniques,supported by the rational use of breath control in Decruck’s Alto Saxophone Sonata in c minor.From the principle of breath control,combined with the emotional expressions in different musical movements in the work,the paper conveys the great importance for every Saxophone performer to master the breathing skills.
