A Study In The Political Opportunity Of Military Rebellion Movement In Northern Song Dynasty, AD1041-1048

In the Society Rebellion history of Song-China (AD960-1276), the Military Rebellion occupies the most quantity between them. But it presented to be lower valued than it exactly deserved by the academics. In the current study, scholars always more focus on the southern Song dynasty, and ignore the northern Song dynasty. The reason is the mutinies of northern Song dynasty often smaller, and for time is short in history. Thus, it gives a lighter influence on the National political structure, and does not gain the opportunity to become a great power to substitute a new regime. Nevertheless, the value of the mutinies in northern Song dynasty is that it reflected current political situation, more than it transformed the current political situation. By a study of mutinies in Northern Song dynasty, then we can see that how the political structure and the broad masses of people change and development, and how those mutinies have an impact on the history development trend.During the AD1041to1048, the mutiny had happened19times totally under the rule of Ren-Zong Emperor. This has to be generally considered as the embodiment of military and political deterioration in the medium-term Northern Song dynasty history. Previous studies are usually start in the prevailing social environment, discuss on the different class background between the mutiny leader and the rulers. Or start in the macroscopic military system of Song Dynasty, discuss on how and why the Emperor, as the Supreme Military Commander, limitations and oppression grassroots military officers and push them rebel up.This article focuses on the Political Opportunities of the leaders and the participator of those mutinies, trying to find out what and how the change of political structure offered the political opportunity to organized social and political movements, and achieved certain effects.
