Since the1970s, the wide application of information technologies, especially computer, multimedia and modern communication technologies, has brought great convenience to people's work, life and entertainment, meanwhile, it has also brought about a lot of new problems concerning information ethics that challenge the traditional moral education. Now information ethics education is gaining more and more importance in moral education in the background of the information age. The effectiveness of information ethics education also plays a key role in creating a harmonious ethical order of an information society. As colleges and universities are the bases of information ethics education, it is of great importance to understand the status quo of the codes and conducts of information ethics of university students and to do research on university information ethics education so as to find out the problems in this area and put forward solutions accordingly. Innovate the contents of information ethics education, open up new measures of information ethics education, educate students to set up correct codes of information ethics through classroom teaching and daily practice and let them internalize the codes of information ethics as guidelines of their life. All these measures are significant in improving students'information ethics literacy and that of all citizens and building a harmonious ethical order of an information society.This thesis starts with an overview of the basic theories of information ethics education in the information age. Then it summarizes the existing problems through analyzing the current codes and conducts of information ethics and its education among college students in China and puts forward relevant measures to enhance information ethics education for Chinese university students. Finally, this thesis points out the prospects of future research on information ethics education in China in hope of providing theoretical reference and practical guidance for information ethics education in Chinese universities.The paper is divided into five parts:Part One is an introduction, which includes the reasons for doing this study, a literature review of current researches home and abroad, and the purpose, methods and innovation points of this study. Part Two introduces the concepts of university information ethics education, including the background, the definitions of related terms and the necessity and significance of enhancing information ethics education in universities. Part Three is an analysis of the current situation of college students' information ethics education in China. It first briefly introduces students'basic cognitions of information ethics and the current situation of Internet ethics and information ethics literacy in their daily study and life; then it analyzes students'recognition of the necessity of university information ethics education, the general situation and specific practices of university'information ethics courses. Part Four discusses the methods of strengthening information ethics education in Chinese universities from the concepts, principles, contents and methods. Part Five concludes the thesis by pointing out the direction of future research on information ethics education to provide guidance for the research and practice in this area.
