Linguistic Bias, which is a common social phenomenon through out our daily life, isalso a remarkable research focus in the field of sociology, psychology and anthropology.Refers to when faced with different situations and communication object, individuallanguage abstraction is significantly different. Based on the previous studies, our studyuses a way of experiment to discuss whether people have the ability to inhibit linguisticbias and to analysis what factors will affect the ability to inhibit Linguistic Bias.We have two studies。Study1used a2×2×2mixed design to discuss whetherinhibition occurred when participants selected descriptions from a list of alternativethrough the first experiment. The results show that: inhibition occurred when participantsselected descriptions from a list of alternatives; under different expected intensity, subjectsverbal abstraction level had no significant difference; expected intensity influenceindividual speech deviation. Based on the fist study, Study2used a2×2×2mixed designto discuss whether inhibition occurred when participants freely describe expected andunexpected behaviors. At the same time to analysis whether the regulatory fit affect thelinguistic bias. The results showed that: inhibition failed when participants were asked tofreely describe either expected or unexpected behaviors alone. Regulatory fit can.Through the above research, this paper draws the following conclusions: Inhibitionoccurred when participants selected descriptions from a list of alternatives and when theyfreely described both expected and unexpected behaviors. However, inhibition failed whenparticipants were asked to freely describe both expected and unexpected behaviors. When the regulation orientation and instructional strategy match, people will enhancethe Linguistic Bias inhibition.
