Variability In The Underlying Narrative Cross-media Conversion And Enlightenment

In recent years, the literary works of subaltern such as "International", "Asks of Boundless ", which described the real survival plight of the subaltern with realism methods and took an examining, reflective and critical attitude to the reality, has shown widespread concern for the living conditions of the lower class and caused a big stir among cultural critics and readers. Some of such texts have been adapted into movies. The narrative impact is expanded, while a new problem of how to ensure the original tragedy and compassion comes to exist. In order to representing the subaltern and appealing for improving their living standards, the works, especially the adapted movies, should be stated truly and seriously as possibly as they can, instead of being filled with negative tendencies, for example, spectacles and entertainment.Thus the paper took the representative novel and its movie for example, tracing the deep cause, finding the problems and dealing with them through studying the adapting of the novel and its consequence.There are four chapters:in the first and second chapter, the novel "Happiness" with its movie, "The Sacred Wooden" with its movie "Blind Shaft"are compared horizontally,.The comedy narrative in "Happiness" had covered the real suffering and the critique in the original had been canceled, while "Blind Shaft" had mastered the core spirit of the original and reflected the social problems, however "Happiness" is more popular than "Blind Shaft". Then in ChapterⅢthrough studying film production and consumption system, I found that,under market economy, it is the cultural industry's mad pursuit of economic efficiency and the constrains of modern China politicized ideology that influences the film adaptation of literary works. In ChapterⅣ, I further studied the audience's acceptance mentality, revealed that there was a tendency of widespread cynicism among the public. Through the layers of in-depth analysis results, there is a need for the whole contemporary Chinese society to be enlightened.
