As one of the big countries in the Middle East, Iran not only has a glorious history background, rich cultural heritage, special geographical location and rich natural resources, also has the political system which different form other country's and the special domestic and foreign policies, all that makes it win the attention in the world. Among them, Pahlavi dynasty (1925-1979) which lived for a half century, is a period of special significance and impact of Iran's long history. This paper aims to try to sort out and research on authoritarianism of the Pahlavi dynasty, by the brief analysis of background, reasons, the model of development, reform measures, as well as its potential political drawbacks of Pahlavi dynasty.As the first chapter, the introduction of the paper gives a review about the research results at home and abroad, and makes an overview of the authoritarianism during Pahlavi dynasty.The second chapter discusses the way how Reza Khan achieves the authoritarian rule in detail. Reza Khan strengthen authoritarian rule through the implementation of the reform of the internal affairs system and the social secular purpose, and opens a new chapter of the construction of modern country. However, there are also dangers hiding in the reforms undertaken. Its absolute authoritarian personal images, plunders the wealth, the implementation of high-handed policy, under the authoritarian rule of the cleansing of the political officials and political monitor performance highlighted the potential political drawbacksThe third Chapter discusses the five parts during the Mohammed·Reza·Pahlevi's authoritarian, namely the authoritarian rule of the reconstruction process,"White Revolution" and the strengthening of authoritarian rule, a pillar of authoritarian rule, the relationship between the interests of the United States and the authoritarian rule, and the crisis of the rule. The former two parts put the focus on the measures implemented by the authoritarian rule, including the implementation of the "White Revolution" which laid Mohammed· Reza· Pahlevi a totalitarian position. The third and fourth parts discuss the domestic and international factors which made important reasons for forming authoritarian rule, among them, the "special relationship" with the United States is the most important one. The last part discusses the drawbacks of authoritarian rule.The fourth chapter is a conclusion, with the comparisons and summaries of the authoritarian rule between the two generations of monarchs during the whole Pahlavi dynasty. Due to the filiation, they have the almost identical means in achieving authoritarian rule, and only make the divergence in the treatment of foreign "help". However, different from the position and attitude of Reza Khan, Mohammed left the pretext of the attack for the Iranian people, making the Pahlavi dynasty toward a hopeless abyss ultimately.
