The dissertation mostly deals with U.S.-Iran relations from 1941 to 1979.After Iran was occupied by British and Soviet Union in August, 1941, it became a world focus. Iran was very important for the allied force; especially most of materials to USSR were across Iran. It was in the World War Two that America home involved Iranian affairs. From then on, U.S.-Iran relations made a rapid development. As the World War Two moved to end, some disputes came into being on the Iran. When Iran and British or Soviet conflicted, America usually sided with Iran. That made Iranian like American more. The 1953 coup indicated that America had been the most influential foreign country in the Iran. That also signed the U.S.-Iran league had been established formally. From then on, Shah carried out pro-America foreign policy. Shah hoped that America could help Iran maintain security, stabilization and independence. During the era of the Cold War, America looked Iran as a instrument of anti-Soviet battle. America and Iran needed each other; so they kept a close federate relation in a long time.During the evolution of U.S.-Iran relations, especially in the last ten years of Shah's reign, military sale played an important role. At that time Iran bought a lot of arms from America. That did strengthen Iran's military force, upgrade Iran's international status, and increase America's export, but that also seriously restricted the development of Iran's economy. This was one reason for the destruction of Shah and the depravation of U.S.-Iran relations.During the more than 40 years, tough both of presidents Kennedy and Carter asked Shah to carry out some reforms, the main intent of the presidents was to see Iran's stabilization, not to hope Iran's genuine development. They knew that only a steady Iran could be favor of America's advantage. The destruction of Shah and the foundation of Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 symbolized the end of dynasticism; it also indicated the end of U.S.-Iran client relations.
