Research On The Structure Of "One+Classifier+Affective Adjective" In Modern Chinese

This paper mainly studies and analyzes the structure of "One+Classifier+Affective Adjective" in modern Chinese. We will discuss the structure from the aspects of constitution, syntax and semantics, discourse and style function. It is divided into five parts:Chapter Ⅰ is the introduction. This chapter is a summary of the former research on the structure of "Numeral+Classifier+Adjective" in modern Chinese. And then we point out their deficiency and introduce the theory foundation and research methods in this paper.Chapter Ⅱ is about the internal composition of the "One+Classifier+Affective Adjective". Firstly, we discuss the characteristic of the numeral "one". It has multiple meanings in both ancient Chinese and modem Chinese. It mainly expresses the meaning of "full" or "little". Secondly, we establish the classifiers which can appear in the structure, namely the organ classifiers and forming classifiers, and then analyze their semantic features. Thirdly, we define the range of the affective adjectives and their semantic features. According to the tendency feature, the affective adjectives can be divided into three categories:positive, negative and neutral. According to the degree feature, they are divided into full-quantity-range and half-quantity-range. The semantic features of the classifiers and affective adjectives will affect the constitution of the "One+Classifier+Affective Adjective"Chapter Ⅲ is the analysis on the syntax and semantics of the structure of "One+Classifier+Affective Adjective". By the corpus statistics, we study the syntax functions of the structure, and then use the quantity theory and construction grammar theory to summarize its construction meaning. According to the subjectivity quantity, we discuss the distribution of the structure in different sentences. The sentence meaning can be summarized as "some kind of people's affective is emerging or around everywhere". At the same time, the internal structure presents different tendency in syntax function that is strong predication in subjectivity large quantity and strong reference in subjectivity small quantity.Chapter Ⅳ explores the discourse function and cognitive explanation of the structure. Firstly, we investigate the occurrence frequency in literary style and news style, especially the news style due to the higher frequency. Then we try to use the cognitive scanning and blending theory to explain the structure. At last, we hypothesize the grammaticalization process of the structure.Chapter Ⅴ is the summary of the whole paper. We mainly summarize the research value, deficiency and problems which remain to be resolved.
