Establishment and reform of Chinese minority literal,which is proceeded in a specific historical period, has a peculiar historical background. The Liangshan Yi alphabetic writing has underwent from hard establish to experience and modifications. However, it is ended up in failure. Even so, it plays an irreplacement important role in the research of Yi language, especially for the spread and use of Sichuan normative literal.Accroding to the fieldwork investigation in Chengdu,Sichuan Province,the state capital of Xichang, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Zhaojue Country, this thesis mainly based on the research methods of literature, depth interviews and so on, methods of questionnaire survey and data analysis as supplements, mixed qualitative and quantitative research methods together, describes the historical backgound, development,causes of failure and value of the Liangshan Yi alphabetic writing objectively. This thesis is mainly divided into several parts as follows:The introduction part mainly explains the value and significance of the research, introduces the methods of research, and reviewed the research situation of Liangshan Yi alphabetic writing; the first part introduces the social culture and usage of language divided into historical background, establishment, experimental implemental, modifications and the failure of it; the third part analyses the gains and losses of it; the fourth part discuss the value of it, and the last part is conclusion.This paper tries to make up for the study of Liangshan Yi alphabetic writing vacancies. To obtain first-hand information on the basis of reading a lot of literatures, interviewing the experts and some people who participated in. And this research which is based on data and facts, is helpful to us look at Liangshan Yi alphabetic writing objectively. At the same time, it can provide some experiences about innovation of literal for other minority nationalities in practice, and it can also offer realistic basis and reference for the relevant departments of the state.
