It is very necessary to consider the background of Nuo Culture to explain the Nuo Dance and find out the meaning and intension, and the language environment of social culture to seek the nation's values of Nuo Dance.This essay is based on the results of the pre-researchers'studies and the "Passing a Barrier" of Nuo Dance in Dejiang Nuo Opera is the research object. This study adopts the research methods of the field investigation of Anthropology and Literature Review to tidy up the history and present situation of Nuo Opera in Dejiang County, to record the ceremony process, to analyze the action poses of Nuo Dance. Furthermore, putting the subjects like dynamic characteristics of Nuo Dance, Dance, Anthropology, Religious Studies and so on together to discuss and explain the deep cultural intension of Nuo Dance.This essay includes four chapters. Chapter One, generalization of the cultural and historic language environment of Dejiang Nuo Opera; Chapter two, analysis on the causes and ceremony process of Dejiang Nuo Opera; Chapter three, based on types and forms of Dejiang Nuo Opera to analyze the formal characteristics,the used musical instruments, dress, music of Nuo Dance;Chapter four, cultural explanation of Nuo Dance forms in Dejiang Nuo Opera.
