In the year1996, The Ningxia Government built Diaozhuang resettlement colony which was mostly formed up by the Hui Minority in Minning Town, Yongning County under point-to-point support of Fujian Province. The settlement colony has been there for16years now, and has been experiencing obvious language changes and some new linguistic phenomenon. Its language usage situation is a fairly appropriate model for research on language contact and language variation, and also one of the best approaches to understand and study the dialect and custom in Ningxia. Using the language contact theory and language variation theory, the thesis fully looks into the language usage situation of Hui Minority migrants in Minning Town, analyze the language changes among those migrants and the inner reasons, then come into conclusions as follows:First, the whole situation of migrants'language usage after the resettlement to Minning Town. Migrants of Minning Town use mandarin, dialect of Yinchuan, dialect of Guyuan, and localism of Hui Minority. These migrants are able to adopt different language while coping with different situation. Among their family numbers the normal language option is their original language (generally dialect of Guyuan). While they are communicating with local people, they will choose the combination of "mandarin+dialect of Yinchuan+dialect of Guyuan". Students and youngsters who have worked outside of the resettlement colony of these migrants speak dialect of Yinchuan; however, they choose mandarin while facing with others outside of Ningxia. Those migrants who are relatively elder and are of weaker educational background stick to the usage of dialect of Guyuan and localism of Hui Minority spontaneously.Secondly, except the common linguistic characteristics of migrates, the Hui Minority's language use is of its own features. The Hui Minority, who takes up more than half of all the migrants in Diaozhuang, has their own characteristics in the linguistic usage. The phonetic system and tones are in accordance with that of Han Majority in the same localism region. However, their vocabulary and oral model are different from that of Han Majority in the same localism. These differences can be found in some unique vocabulary among Hui migrants, some words same in form and sound yet different in meaning, some different names of the same object, and the preference of suffixation of a nonsyllabic "r" to nouns and sometimes verbs, and over-modest speaking manner etc.Thirdly, the language pattern has been changed after the migration. Among the25resettlement colonies in Ningxia, the Diaozhuang of Minning town is the only one mostly formed up by Hui minority. The mixture of Hui Minority and Han Majority changed the linguistic situation of different language usages between different ethnic groups. These changes includes:the migration changes the local language of the resettlement colony, the original dialect of migrates begins to fade away, the localism changes into a mixture of dialects, the local dialect exits and competes with the migrates'dialect, and some original words of migrates'dialect begins to disappear.Fourthly, the inner reasons causing these linguistic changes can be concluded as follows:the main reason is the continuous contact with outside world leads to the contact between the migrates'dialect and the local dialect of Yinchuan; the important reason is the self-identification; the root reason is the normal communicating needs; the forceful power is the harmonious and active ethnic concepts towards different ethnic groups.
