Suffrage is a fundamental right of citizens, which has an important role in fundamental rights system of citizens, and is one of the basic human rights that need to focus on constitutional and legal protection. Women account for half of the population, only the enjoyment and realization of equality of political rights is able to obtain real equality of status between men and women. The achieving of the equality for women around the world women's suffrage has been the goal. With the social development and progress of the time, and the launching of women's equal suffrage movement, women's equal suffrage in many countries has got constitutional and legal recognition. the protection of women's suffrage also been widely implemented in reality. Since the founding of people's republic of China, China's laws and policies have been establishing and maintaining the equal social status and rights of women, the legal status of women has been significantly improved, which greatly facilitated the realization of women's suffrage. But the legal system of guaranteeing women equal political rights also has many deficiencies, women's equal participation in politics does not build the whole legal mechanism, therefore the level of women's political participation in China is also not satisfactory, these deficiencies need to be overcome.This article is divided into four parts, the first chapter is an introduction, mainly on the research background, purpose and significance, research status and research methods; the second chapter, the basic theory of women's equal suffrage, the concept and components of women's equal suffrage, choice of the legal protection and the history of women's political participation were described and analyzed one by one; third chapter, the status of the legal protection system of women's equal suffrage, mainly analyzed achievements and shortcomings of indirect and direct legal protection system, to identify problems and lay a solid foundation to make recommendations;Ⅳ, improving women's equal suffrage of the legal protection system, putting forward specific proposed improvements to better achieve the equality of women suffrage for the current shortcomings of the law.
