A Study On Mass Incidents Involved In The New Generation Of Migrant Workers

At present, along with the constantly deepening process of urbanization,a large number of the new generation of migrant workers are pouring into the cities,and becoming the mainstream groups of migrant workers instead of the first generation migrant workers. Compared to the first generation of migrant workers, the new generations of migrant workers have higher level of education, members of the public, and the tendency of city obviously, and also have higher life expectancy and more awareness of their rights. Because of these characteristics, when their interests are violated, they will have a strong sense of deprivation,if the complaint for interests is not handled suitably, the sense of deprivation will become a kind of social discontent, and it is possible to cause outbreak of mass incidents when the accumulation of such discontent to a certain extent. There were a lot of research on the new generation of migrant workers and mass incidents, but it is rare to find the research on both of them.Based on the above background, according to the study on the collective characteristics of new generation of migrant workers, characteristics and reasons of mass incidents involved in new generation of migrant workers are deeply explored by combining the two propositions of the new generation of migrant workers and the mass incidents. Firstly, the basic concepts and characteristics of the new generation of migrant workers are described, and the principal problems faced by the group are pointed out. Secondly, the mass incident involved in new generation of migrant workers is proposed, and the characteristics and reasons of them are studied in depth. Thirdly, the characteristics and reasons are further proved by the analysis of two typical cases for the mass incident involved in new generation of migrant workers. At last, the policies and measures, which involve government management, enterprise construction and the humanistic care, are proposed to resolve the mass incident involved in new generation of migrant workers.The results show that, there is a close association between the characteristics of the new generation of migrant workers and the mass incident involved in them. Because of the new generation of migrant workers have a high social expectations, a strong awareness of their rights and the modernization of communication features, the mass incident involved in them show some new characteristics, such as the light is lower, conflicts of non-economic interests and no direct interests are more than others, the mass incident is broadcasted quickly by cell phone or internet, and it is concerned widely in public. And the reasons of the mass incident involved in them come from not only the intensification of social conflicts, but also objectively from the lack of social security and the way to complaint for interests. On the other hand, the characteristics of the group and the lost of public credibility of government are the other important reasons. The resolving mechanisms of mass incident involved in new generation of migrant workers are proposed from the characteristics and problems of the group. For the government, the interests of workers should be guaranteed, the way to complaint for interests should be smooth and the public credibility of government should be promoted. For the company, the independence of trade unions should be guaranteed and the negotiate mechanism should be founded. In addition, the new generation of migrant workers should be cared by public in mental health, the affirmation and incentive should be given from public.
