A Study On The Political Education Of Taiwan Military Colleges

Political education in military colleges is an important component of Taiwanese army's political affairs, and it is also a necessary step to educate personnel in Taiwan military colleges. Since cadets are the backbone of Taiwanese army forces, their political position, value orientation and ideological quality have great influence on overall construction of Taiwanese army, even on the trend of Taiwanese political ecology. Study of political education in Taiwanese military colleges is the realistic necessary to grasp accurately Taiwanese cadets'ideological trend and to prepare our army for political work.This thesis analyzes the significance of the study of political education in Taiwanese military colleges. The author collects and analyzes generous first-hand data and information from Taiwan. After investigating the educational system of Taiwanese military colleges, the connotation of political education in Taiwanese military colleges is summed up. The objectives, characteristics and requirements of political education in Taiwanese military colleges are analyzed during special periods, such as the mobilization of counter-insurgency, lifting a curfew, substituting of ruling party. Ideological education, spiritual education, consensus education of national affairs, and moral education are the main contents of political education in Taiwanese military colleges. The commonness of political education in Taiwanese military colleges is summed up on the basis of analyzing its organization, implement and educational methods. The general characteristics and three deficiencies of its political education are concluded: educational themes are narrow, educational contents is far from soldiers interests, curriculum design breaks away from civil education. In conclusion, based on deep analysis and systematic research, this thesis puts forward some inspirations for our army political work from three perspectives: enriching and perfecting the contents of political education, improving the methods of political education, strengthening the specificness of political education.
