Local judicial magistrates in Tang Dynasty work as assistants ofsenior officers,mainly responsible for assisting the senior officersto perform judicial authority. But for a long time, we do not pay muchattention to this bureaucratic group and academic circles also do not haveprofessional works about them. But it's worth noting that this kind oflocal judicial officers take a great proportion among the whole judicialofficers in Tang Dynasty. It has great academic value to make researchon it which can be seen from its historical status. Regarding theimportance and researching value of this judicial officers and taking thisjudicial bureaucratic group as researching object, the writer try topresent the whole outline of this bureaucratic group and also hope to makea little contribution to research of local judicial officers systemthrough researching on its historical evolution, setting situation,position charge, ways of holding a position,grade and salary,etcGenerally speaking, this paper will investigate local judicialmagistrates of Tang Dynasty from seven parts.Part one: Introduction of the paper. It mainly introduces the currentresearch situation of the paper, meaning of choosing this subject and main researching contents.Part two, it mainly introduces category of local judicial magistratesin Tang Dynasty and relevant position identity. There are two issues inthis part, one issue is about category of local judicial magistrates inTang Dynasty, that is to say magistrates are composed of what kind ofofficials and whom are the researching objects of this paper. The otherone makes a distinguish about confusable positions in order to have abetter knowledge about outline and boundary between facao and canjun.Part three, it mainly introduces the historical evolution of localjudicial magistrates in Tang Dynasty. It will analyze the historicalevolution situations through development of judicial officers since HanDynasty,the judicial officers belong to areas whose grade are lower thanstate and prefecture. What's more,it will analyze historical rules ofposition variations which can be reflected from the evolution.Part four, settings about various magistrates in Tang Dynasty. Thereare also two matters in this part–title and quota. One matter is aboutthe reason why titles easily get confused. The other one includesfollowing three matters: characteristics of settings,situation andreason of decreasing or increasing, difference of historical materialsand its reasons. People can have a basic knowledge of setting informationof various Yashu in the Tang Dynasty.Part five, position charge of local magistrates in Tang Dynasty. Thereare three aspects in part five. Firstly is about finding of differencetowards position charge in historical records and analyzing its reasons.Secondly is about detailed position charge on judicial affairs in localjudicial magistrate of Tang Dynasty. Thirdly is to exposit the phenomenonthat local judicial magistrates are used as other positions and to analyzethe reason.Part six, administration rules of local judicial magistrates in Tang Dynasty, including analysis on ways of holding a post, grade and salary.We will have more thinking between facao and state legislation whicharoused by above things.Part seven, status of local magistrates in Tang Dynasty. This partwill analyze it from two aspects,one is the relation between facao andother cao, the other is impression among people who live in Tang Dynasty.The last is the conclusion of the paper. Through all aboveexplorations and analysis, write comes to an recapitulative conclusionabout local judicial magistrates in Tang Dynasty.
