Government Funding Of Private Colleges And Universities

Nowadays, our government is lacking the effective financial assistance to the private higher learning institutions. Resulting from the serious insufficiency of the funds, the development of the private higher learning institutions appears relatively slow, and encounters the severe challenge. In this paper, we analyze the current development of the private universities in China and the financial support from the government. Through the comparative study on the funding policies and practices to private universities in the United States, Japan, India and other countries, referring to the case of Sanjiang University's development, some inspirations can be acquired. Our government should insist on the variety of funding forms, providing long-term, effective and equal financial assistance to the private universities, and resulting in their health and sustainable development.
