National identities are the citizens'understanding and recognitions about historical and cultural traditions, moral values, ideals and faiths, sovereignties, and the social members'cognitive and emotional attachments about their own country, and the important ties of national existence and development. The strategic positions, international environment and minorities conditions in Yunnan province decide to the particularity, urgency and importance of improving the Yunnan minorities students'national identities. Therefore, researches on Yunnan minorities students identities have theoretical significances and practical functions. Strong national identities not only can better national personalities, strengthen citizens'cohesion, establish citizens'consciousness of national interests, cultivate the modern citizens; but also can inspire the patriotic enthusiasm, condense state power, safeguard national sovereignty. Strong national identities under the leadership of the Communist Party in China can urge highly Chinese nation and the socialism with Chinese characteristics and the history of the great Chinese splendid civilization.Studying national identities of minorities students has its prominent functions and values. On the basis of investigation data and empirical analysis, we need to analyse the present situations of college students and measure their degree from different factors, such as national identities'contents and forms, factors and measures, processes and results, school education and universal education, education level and traditional cultures, and minorities students'growth process, their social religious differences, the language factors, population scale, social mobility, culture quantitative indicators. Yunnan minorities students national identities have many features by the survey data analysis, such as symbolic and outstanding attributes, internationality and complexity, homogeneity and difference, equivalence and interactivity, autonomy and plasticity. By analyzing these features, some factors, such as the lagging economic development in ethnic regions, the high cost and life difficulties of college students, corruption and poor policies of political systems, the real practice deviations, multiple cultural differences, social moral decay, national psychological estrangement and other major factors, affected minorities college students'cultural characteristics, behaviour characteristics and their national identification orientation.In order to intensify Yunnan minorities students'national cohesion, improve their national identities, safeguard national sovereignty and national security, on the basis of national identity characteristics and influencing factors, we need to take suitable corresponding strategies and concrete measures. First, we should speed up economic development in minorities regions and improve their students living conditions; Second, we should strengthen and improve the ideological and political education level of higher schools, with learning environments and learning contents for the carriers to improve the pertinence and effectiveness of the national identities education;third, by strengthening citizenship and their identity consciousness, we should maintain political rights and appeals of college students and build equality, solidarity, mutual assistance and harmony of new minorities relations; fourth, with national cultural identity and cultural integration and infiltrating progressive paths, we can construct a lasting strong harmonious cultural community; fifth, with specific symbols and other identity media, we can carry forward the national patriotism spirits and centered national concepts, prompt and harmonize national cultures, national identities, social internal order and national security.
