Contemporary Revival Of Yunnan Yi The Aci People "sacrifice Dragon" Activities Investigated

In the society of current China, the traditional revitalization happens everywhere. Many people express their own opinions about this, but they can't reach an agreement. The ritual of sacrificing dragon (Jilong) in Taowa village also appears with the revitalization of the traditional customs. Based on the analysis of the historical origin and connotation of A'zhe people's Jilong ritual in this village, this paper explores the revitalization problem of the traditional customs. It concludes that not everything can be revived if it lacks certain conditions. On one hand, the traditions must be passed on by the ancestors and people must have a deep consciousness to protect them. The ritual in Taowa village is a phenomenon of fertility worship in ancient times and has a deep influence on A'zhe people. On the other hand, the revitalization of traditions needs the participation of all people. The reason why the ritual in Taowa village is much more popular than other villages is that various social roles have their own social duty and responsibility, thus they can get an entertainment directly both physically and mentally. Besides, the revitalization of traditions is not so easy because it is related with the country, the governors, the external talents, the villagers and so on. By interviewing and investigating, I conclude villagers' acknowledgement and expectancy about this ritual and get its motivation additionally including the presence of the power of the government, the promotion of the current interests, the customs in culture and entertainment, the social integrated function, village and unification consciousness owned by the ritual itself. Some motivations also bring a series of problems especially the conflicts of different interests during the revitalization process. In a word, the revitalization of traditions is the produce of the development of Chinese society. Although some problems and conflicts still exist, we should treat it with an objective attitude and make a concrete analysis of each specific question.
