Class advisor is the organizer of class activities, the instructor for student's healthy growth and the leader for student's spirit and morality education. 2006, the Education Ministry issued The Announcement on Implementing the National Training Program for Class Advisors of Primary School and High school(hereby referred to as "the Announcement"). The Announcement emphasizes that enhancing the training for class advisors of primary and high schools has great importance in improving the overall quality of the rank of class advisors and giving full play to the key role of class advisors in carrying out the Party's guidelines on education, fully implementing quality-oriented education and improving and adolescent's morality cultivation. The Announcement asks that the schools across whole nation should establish training system for calss advisors of primary and middles school to lift the capacity of class advisors in carrying out their work.Reviewing the school-based inservice training program for class advisors of each school, the author comes to realize that despite the various advantages of school-based inservice training, it nevertheless suffers many drawbacks arising from the limitations of school itself and the training organizers. A example in case is the divorce from the actual needs of the students.So what the actual needs of students? The 21st century is a century of knowledge competition, in which the knowledge is updating by each passing day. As the successors to this country, senior high school students have to obtain self learning capacity to catch up the development of times. Therefore, self learning capacity becomes the most urgent needs of students.To solve the problems in school-based inservice training for class advisors, this research sets out to combine the training of class advisors with the goal of improving the student's self learning capacity, which is the first venture of its kind. Theoretically, this research will enrich the theory of training for class advisors and benefit the students and class advisors in practice.The research, based on the goal, content, and pattern of the current school-based inservice training program, explores the school-based inservice training for class advisor to improve the self-learning capacity of senior high school students. Firstly, this research discusses the necessity of carrying out the school-based inservice training for class advisor to improve the self-learning capacity of senior high school students.At the end of 20th century, Pr.Jiang Zemin pointed out that "in the coming 21st century, knowledge-based economy, featuring high and new technology will take the dominant position...The lack of world-class creative talents has become the major hindering factors holding back the nation's creativity and competitiveness.In our current system, the training of personnel is mainly in the school. The class is the basic unit of school education. The quality of classe management will directly affect the self study ability of students and the long term development of the school.Currently, the quality of class advisors on the whole is less than desirables, manifested as old-fashioned concepts, lack of theory, poor management and unreasonable evaluation. These issues have undermined the class advisor's effective management of the class, which further takes its toll on the creation of self learning environment and the improvement of students'self study. Therefore such training program is of great necessity.Secondly, this research also discusses the goal and connotation of the training program for class advisors which is instrumental to improving student's self learning capacity.As mentioned before, at present stage, the quality of the rank of class advisors are poor. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out such training so that class advisors can bring in advanced concepts and theories to guide students in their self learning. At the same time, the class advisor can formulate a scientific and reasonable performance evaluating system that can drive student's self learning.To meet such goal, the content of training should include training for concepts, theory, and skills as well as stimulus mechanism, etc. These components is conducive for class advisors to form advanced education concepts such as the proper outlook on students, teachers, education and talents. It is also beneficiary for them to master many skills such as how to motivate students to conduct self learning, how to improve the confidence of students, how to guide the students in setting their goals, their study plan and reflecting on themselves, evaluating themselves. Besides, the training should also include training for how to form collective goal for the class, how to organize educating activities for the class and how to optimize the class culture. Such effort may help class advisors form the correct evaluation mechanism for student's self learning.Thirdly, this research puts forward the strategy of carrying out school-based inservice training for class advisors to improve senior high school students'self learning capacity. This research believes that through measures such as "setting examples, reading plan with scores awarding, hosting class advisor contest and blog-style summary", the class advisors will be motivated to build a new concept of education and accumulate theoretical knowledge for self learning. By learning from the expert in this regards, class advisors can apply what they learn from theory to promote students'self learning; by communicating experience through seminars, workshops and QQ groups, class advisors can promote faculty cooperation; by establishing key research groups, branch research groups and joint groups between students and teachers, class advisor can better their practice of improving student's self learning; by reflecting upon the lessons from this practice, they can further improve self learning.Last but not the least, this research comes up with some measures for the interaction between students'self learning and class advisors'school-based inservice training; for example, help students set their goal by promoting self recognition; promote self learning of students through peer sharing among them; boost their independence through "blueprint for life" courses; further their self learning by reflection and summary.
