Tujia people's traditional knowledge is folk wisdom accumulated by generations of people. It plays an important role in the development of local habitants. During the process of modernization, the traditional knowledge has suffered an unprecedented cultural shock and is facing serious difficulties in heritage and development. Based on this social background, this paper takes Suzhu village, Longshan County, Hunan as a case and describes the traditional knowledge of the village in details. The ethnographic description of the specific content includes the traditional ecological knowledge, traditional agricultural knowledge, traditional medicine knowledge and technology of traditional arts and crafts, as well as the traditional diet and living knowledge. Such traditional knowledge survives in the specific natural and social context of Suzhu village and adapts s to the local ecological environment and social environment. It contributes for the protection of local ecological environment, the regulation of human and nature, the multiple relationships between people. However, as the productive forces develops rapidly in today's society and globalization and modernity penetrates into every village, people become skeptical of the value of traditional knowledge, Tujia's traditional knowledge has encountered with unprecedented problem in inherence. This phenomenon was multi-dimensional analyzed in the paper, we believe that the continuation and development of traditional knowledge need to eliminate cultural biases, which means both communities and authorities should take part in the protection and provide necessary assistance with legislation and setting national policy.
