Inheritance And Protection Of Village Folk Sports

Under the background of contemporary social development,taking Traditional Festivities,one of Village Folk Sports programs,in Luo Village,Xunyi County,Xianyang City,Shaanxi Province as an example,and adopting the methods of documentation,field investigation and field interviews,this thesis analyses the historical evolution and the changes of inheritance approaches,explores the features of evolution in different historical periods,and discovers the remaining problems in the present process of inheritance and protection.At last,the paper puts forward feasible ways and suggestions on the basis of above studies.After investigation and analysis,it can be concluded that:Firstly,Traditional Festivities in Luo Village probably experienced four historical stages: short periods after the foundation of People's Republic of China(PRC),the Cultural Revolution,the Reform and Opening up,and Nowadays Internet Era.Secondly,from the perspective of protection and inheritance,Traditional Festivities in Luo Village was passed and protected by farmers voluntary in the form of oral and personal instruction in the short period after the foundation of PRC;during the Cultural Revolution,protection and inheritance was discontinued because of the “cast away the four olds--old ideas,old culture,old customs and old habits”;since the Reform and Opening-up,the protection,inheritance and partial restoration mainly rely on the historical memories of older generation artists;in the present Internet Era,Village Folk Sports have been greatly impacted.Due to the rapid development of coastal cities and“migrant worker fever”,many young people in villages go out to work and cause the of hollowing villages.The inheritors of Village Folk Sports are insufficient.The decentralization of government power and the diversity of the entertainments of villagers in the Internet Era lead to Traditional Festivities become the alternative entertainment during the New Spring Festival.The declining sense of cultural identity among villagers,unawareness of its importance in the the government and villagers,no relevant protection and inheritance measures taken out and no organizations established,the traditional skills are on the verge of extinction.Thirdly,in the process of protection and inheritance,Village Folk Sports are faced with the following problems:(1)The scarcity of village sports instructors(2)The trust crisis among villagers and cultural elites(3)Lack of successors(4)Single method of inheritance(5)Deficiency of inheritance funds(6)The government's insufficient support for inheritance.Through the case study and aiming at solving the above problems,the author puts forward the following feasible paths for the protection and inheritance of Village Folk Sports :(1)Establishment of associations instructing village folk sports programs.Then village folk sports can be organized and carried out systematically.(2)Joining hands with film and television industry.It can increase the popularity of village folk sports,enhance the sense of cultural identity and attract professionals to provide professional guidance.(3)The combination of tourism.This method can not only promote the local ethnic characteristics,but also stimulate the economy,enabling tourists to popularize the folk sports activities voluntarily.(4)Integration with folk festivals.This method can not only enliven the festival atmosphere,but also greatly improve the local people's cultural identity.(5)Cooperation with school education.The research and development of school-based curriculum can not only enrich the content of physical education and extracurricular activities,but also cultivate young inheritors.Thus phenomenon of discontinuity of inheritance will be eliminated gradually.(6)Commercial operations like sports industry.Professional sports brokers will conduct the business negotiation and arrange the business performance,improving the income of local people and team members,and laying a solid economic foundation for the protection and inheritance of village folk sports.
