Research On Environmental Quality Of Rural Women On The Ecological Civilization Perspective

Although China's rural economy is under rapid development, environmental issues are facing severe challenges. How to solve the current environmental problems in rural areas is an urgent matter we have to keep an eye for. As the number of farmers account for 70% of the total population of China, the environmental quality of farmers, especially that of female ones, greatly affects the rural environmental conditions. Hence, this article aims, in ecological civilization's perspective, at the research on rural women's environmental qualities to solve rural environmental problems in a creative way.An empirical research, taking rural women inâ…©village of Wuhan as the study object is carried out in this thesis. Through theoretical analysis and questionnaire surveys, particularly employing mathematical statistic methods, cognitions,values,attitudes and behaviors of rural women towards ecological environments have been revealed. We have discussed distinct factors such as age,gender educational background and productivity, which may have effects on environmental qualities of the rural women and, moreover, proposed several corresponding strategies and solutions.There are five parts in this paper:Part 1:Introduction. It briefly discusses the issue from the respects like backgrounds of the problem,purposes and significances of the research literature review,core concepts,the research content and study methods.Part 2:The essay provides a view of problems in environmental quality of rural women based on Ecological Civilization Theory of Marxism, Theory of Reasoned Action and Feminist Theory.Part 3:Those rural women's cognitive situations of the status quo of environments environmental values,attitudes towards environment,environmental assessment and participating behaviors are overall described and evaluated via the research ofâ…©village of Wuhan.Part 4:From the aspect of age, gender, educational background, economic income, occupation and health, the paper discusses relationship of rural women with various characteristics. It turns out that age, educational background and personal health condition are significantly related to environment participating behavior. Furthermore, the article has a deeper discussion concerning productivity, national macro-environmental policies, the Media and so on.Part 5:Conclusions and solutions. Former research shows that currently in our country, rural women's cognitive degrees of environmental quality are uneven. Varied individual characteristics, economical statuses and social factors have correspondingly different impacts on participating behaviors of rural women. Consequently, as for the present environmental quality diversity of rural women, there is a need to speed up the construction of ecological civilization, to improve the scientific and cultural quality of rural women, to found a sound legal system for environmental protection in rural areas, to enhance the legislation and law enforcement supervision mechanism and to support the establishment of rural women-led environmental organization.
