Oral English teaching is an important part of the English course in China's vocational middle schools .With the increasing globalization of economy and people's social life, English speaking and listening ability tends to be especially important for the young generation. English teaching in the vocational school is characterized by its practicability and professionalization, which demands that teachers attach great importance to the students'oral English practice, improve their interactive ability, and develop their capability to apply what they've learnt to their future profession.However, the status quo of English teaching in vocational schools is not optimistic. Based on the author's surveys among the students and teachers about the students'learning attitude, behavior, teachers'occupational qualification, and teaching modes, the author attempts to apply the Communicative Language Teaching approach in the English course, aiming to improve the effectiveness of oral English teaching,.This study shows the necessity and feasibility of the application of Communicative Language Teaching in oral English teaching in vocational schools and the author's specific findings can be summarized as follows:1. The study shows that Communicative Language Teaching can effectively stimulate the vocational school students' interests in learning spoken English, change their attitude towards spoken English, and harmonize the relationship between students and teachers.2. The students'oral English level in the experimental class demonstrates a greater improvement than that of the control class through the pre-test and post-test, which indicates that Communicative Language Teaching can effectively improve students ' English speaking ability.
