To Talk About The "face" Of The Chinese People

Face plays a very important role in the Chinese society. From the ancient to now, it deeply rooted in everybody's mind and affects their words and deeds. The view of face is not just exist in Chinese but it shows so obvious there that the researchers of Chinese culture take it as the key to understand the main character of Chinese. The special status of face attracted the attention of scholars widely, they all started the research of face, but the question of"What the face is" has no exact answer till now. By discusses the theory?performance?cultural roots and the social effect of face, this thesis wants to let people know more about the character and the behavior of the Chinese, on this basis, they can avoid the unnecessary misunderstandings during the intercultural communication.
