Today, the development of computer technology is rapid, and along with the maturing of computer hardware, the capacity of the information storage is also increased. Therefore, how to screen, mine and efficient utilize these information becomes more and more difficult. With the rapid development of sports, it also faces the same issue.This paper uses the methods of literature material, statistics and data mining and takes a lot of data of "Statistical Yearbook of Chinese sports" from the year 2001 to 2009. It utilizes the means of gray prediction analysis, gray correlation analysis, cluster analysis and factor analysis to excavate the potential relationship of the data. The paper also tries to carry out the following works:firstly, establishing the GM(1,1) model of "championship predicted number"; secondly, analyzing the impaction of the factors, which are "excellent athletic team funds", "the basic sports construction spending", "national excellent sports players in the team", "coaches total number" on "the championship number" using gray correlation analysis; thirdly, using clustering analysis and factor analysis sorting and dividing the different regions of China into three parts from the economic development level and sports construction level. With the experiments mentioned above, the study wishes finding more valuable implicit information from the massive data during the work of sports statistical.Through the work this paper finds out the collusions that the technology of data mining helps finding the hidden potential relations and laws in the massive data and also helps the data analyze of the deeper level. This paper builds the GM (1,1) residual model and modified model cycle using the data of "the championship number" from the year 2002 to 2009, and it finds out that the accuracy of prediction is higher than the accuracy of prediction of the other curve regression models. Through the gray correlation analysis, it shows that the time series development trend of the human input is closer to the reference sequence of the "the championship number" than that of the fund input. The region of China is divided into three parts by cluster analysis, and factor analysis sorts each region by their development level of sports. The results basically reflect the status of provincial sports development.
