The Improvement Of Volunteer Strategy For College Students In China

Being the main resource in our volunteer service activities, the college students have played an important role in the major voluntary works for the recent years. However, with the development of the contemporary voluntary service, a number of issues have been gradually revealed to our students during their practical activities. This paper analyzes and summarizes the state and some problems in our student volunteer services, by means of surveys and case interviews. Also, some great improvement strategies are given for our students, within applying some experiences derived from the United States Service-Learning. The research work of this paper takes three parts:At the first part, author investigated 236 college volunteer students with a coup of questions,12 college volunteer students got an interviewed, as well as 4 people from the students voluntary management and the receiving company. Through the results of the investigations and the interviews, author analyzed the actual situation of the student voluntary activities, in considering the aspects of their participation frequency, the values and the attitudes, the organization and methods of the subject, the content and the form of services, the protection policy and the practical procedure. The results revealed that the main issues to out student voluntary services lied in these aspects:wrong value orientation, monotone organization form, leak of the efficiency in organization, bad balance and low efficient in service activities.For the second part, through a deep documentary research, author highly explained and summarized on the United States College Student Service within these 6 aspects:history, orientation, organization, service activities, protection policy and practical procedure.At last, from a comparison between the students service of the two countries, author learned some experiences from the United States Students Services and applied these experiences with our students'case. An improvement strategy was given to Chinese students voluntary activities, specifying these key points related to the value orientation, organization building, reinforce services activities, complete the protection policy and standardize the practical procedure..
