The teaching process is not only a process of imparting knowledge and skills to the students but also a process of cultivating in the students good thinking habits and creative abilities. A teaching method is the totality of the patterns, means and procedure that the teacher adopts to organize and instruct the students to take a certain learning activity. It is critical to the efficiency and success of the teaching activity and the cultivation of the students' qualities and abilities. Therefore, the choice of an adequate and scientific teaching method is a key element in the completion of the teaching tasks and the realization of the teaching goals.Volleyball teaching is a very important component of physical education at colleges and universities. As one of the major courses for students at the physical education college or department, volleyball class is of great significance in the promotion of the students'physical and mental health, enrichment of their specialized knowledge and skills and development of their life-long exercising habit and ability. Serve technique is a basic part of volleyball techniques and the kernel of the whole strategy making. It has many constituent links and complex movement configurations and requires an exact sense of time and space. The sense of rhythm makes serve a popular part of learning for the students. It is an issue of continuous exploration that how to effectively help the students' master the serve technique, especially the arm movement in volleyball teaching and learning when hitting the ball and the running assisted jump. The current study is an empirical research of rhythm control in the running assisted jumping link in attacking. The study adopts the research methods of literature survey and statistic analysis, and is an empirical study in nature. Teaching experiments are conducted. The subjects are seniors and sophomores majoring in volleyball at the Physical Education Department, Hunan Humanities and Technologies College. The experiment is focused on running assisted jumping when attaching in Position 4. The research goal is to optimize the teaching of serve and promote the students'learning efficiency. It is also hoped that the research can serve as a practical guide and provide theoretical reference for further studies of the application of the rhythm control method to serve teaching and for the reform of volleyball teaching. The research conclusions are as follows:(ⅰ) the rhythm control method can solve the difficulty in the teaching of serve technique, has better teaching effect than regular methods and is applicable in real teaching; (ⅱ) in this method, audio-visual means and traditional teaching methods come together and make an optimized teaching pattern of communication, feedback and adjustment and thus makes the method outstand other methods in terms of teaching and learning effect and efficiency; (ⅲ) the method makes full use of modern media to assist teaching, makes possible the full play of the students' creativity as well as the teacher's guiding role and is helpful to the development of the student's thinking capacities; (ⅳ) the method enables prompt feedback and adjustment, thus shortens the teaching cycle and promotes the teaching efficiency;...
