| It is the requirement of New National English Standard and the current situation of senior Yi students'English learning in a cross-cultural region to develop senior Yi students'interest in English learning from cultural perspective. Affective filter hypothesis is used to explain how interest in English learning has an effect on senior Yi students'other affective attitude and learning style in English learning from cultural perspective.This research is aimed at forming a series of effective teaching strategies on developing senior Yi students'interest in English learning from cultural perspective so that English teaching practice can be improved more largely and effectively in a cross-cultural region. The background and purpose of the research make it full of particularly theoretical and practical significance. The former lies in that it can enrich the content of researches in English learning and enlarge the rang of researches in English learning theoretically, and the latter lies in that a series of effective teaching strategies from cultural perspective formed in the research can play a constructive role in improving the quality of senior Yi students'English learning and upgrading English teaching practice in a cross-cultural region. This research was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively by using questionnaires, interviews and classroom observations in three periods. In the first period, materials about literature were collected, and questionnaires and interviews about senior Yi students'English learning were made in 65 senior Yi students in Shimian Middle School. In the second period, the results of the questionnaires and interviews were analyzed and the weak points of senior Yi students in English learning were mined out,among which interest in English learning is explored as the core weak point by using affective filter hypothesis to prove the effect of it from cultural perspective. In the third period, a series of teaching strategies on developing senior Yi students'interest in English learning from cultural perspective were formed according to the results of the questionnaires, interviews and the author's teaching experience and some further thoughts about English teaching in a cross-cultural region were achieved. 65 senior Yi students in Grade 3 in Shimian Middle School were question aired and interviewed in the research. |
