Social Change Under Ansai Waist Drum

This paper is aimed to explore the development or the cultural function of Ansai waist drum at different times. Also, its current situation and development trends are included. During this process, some theories and methods are used. They infer to functional theory, theory of cultural change, participant observation and interviews. Ansai waist drum, this specific case, is just to show the importance of national policy for cultural development, and necessity of public involvement for culture. On this basis, following the results of non-material cultural studies, the essay tries to provide recommendations on the protection and transmission of Ansai waist drum.Introduction describes topic's origin and significance as well as research trends, major theories and methods.The second chapter explains the geographical environment, social and historical background of Ansai waist drum's existence. The existence reasons of Ansai waist drum and characteristics are analyzed from geographical and historical aspects.Chapter III describes the development process of Ansai waist drum. The part mainly explores reasons for the formation and the change of function of the Ansai waist drum in the time axis. Ansai waist drum may be formed by the combination of Central Plains'culture and the Northwest minorities' culture. Because of religion, its functions gradually expand to entertainment tools for people to pray. With the changes of history, it becomes an instrument of political propaganda and as an economic growth point later.Chapter IV analyzes the situation and problems of Ansai waist drum, mainly from the perspective of the drum's developing. Combined with international experience, the article makes corresponding recommendations: government must play a guiding role; the country should establish drum's preservation system; the local need develop tourism industry.
