In recent years with the development of computer hardware techniques and software techniques, the computer graphics has achieved great success.Non-photorealistic rending has already caused the people more and more attention,and it has become a hot research topic in Computer Graphics. Non-photorealistic rending is the technology not to generate the realistic graphs, mainly the manual style. It has become a new research field in computer Graphics, the researchers also unceasingly research various artistic style graphs, and it has been used more and more widely, it has been applied in the industrial design, medical field,film, television advertisement and so on. Because of these applications,the development of Non-photorealistic rending has new opportunities and challenges.This paper has studied several respects of the following mainly:First, the paper simply introduces computer graphics, reviews the photorealistic and non-photorealistic rending technology, summarizes the development, the characteristic, the defects of photorealistic graphics, and the definition, development, classification, and application of non-photorealistic, and compares the differences of them.Secondly, the paper introduces the theory of particle system model, the characteristic and the function of OpenGL,establishes a particle system model based on the characteristics of watercolor, using the OpenGL texture mapping technology, this paper designs a simulation system of watercolor. The user can according to needs to control particle attribute, direction and speed of brush ,the system is fast and good interactivity.At last, this paper proposes a method for pencil sketching from images based on LIC algorithm, According to the structural vector field and the regional characteristics of image , it produces adaptive stroke length and texture directions. Then line-integral convolution(LIC) method is applied to form results. Finally we synthesize the results and the edge details which are applied neon processing.And this method can create a pencil sketching according to the number of the image detail and make it more changes.
