With the development of industrial control, some application field is facing higher and newer requirement. These applications have features such as covering a wide range, distributing control points or the object is always moving. So how to realize the monitoring and controlling them efficiently and economically is a new subject submitted to us. In this article, we integrate technologies such as intelligent instrument, mobile communication, Internet, micro electronics and High efficiency ATmegal28 single-chipped computer to realize wireless data acquisition system based on GPRS. All this totally breaks the limit of district and the traditional net framework and provides relatively a cheap and reliable solution. This dissertation first introduces the history of GSM communication technology, then, has a deep research on GPRS technology which is applied in a leading position at present, including its advantages, system architecture, application solution, and also analyzes OSI(open system interconnection) and TCP/IP protocol, which is a key technology to GPRS. This dissertation choose ATmegal28 micro processor based on AVR as the master controller in terminal system, and HUAWEI GTM900B that integrated TCP/IP protocol as GPRS communication module. This dissertation introduces the design and realization of the terminal hardware and software especially. The GPRS wireless data transmission implemented in the project has embedded TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), which enables the connection with the internet via GPRS network. Data transmission by this way is highly real-time and supplies transparent channels to users. It has been widely applied in fields of electric power automation, environment protection, traffic supervision and monitoring, etc., especially in mobile settings, difficult-to-wire sites, and backcountry districts.
